Airie Wild Runners
Run Wild. Run Free.
What if running wasn’t simply about speed...but also about connections?
There’s something different about a child who learns to run through the wild...
"I grew up chasing my father’s cross country team through cornfields, winding woods, and the rolling sand of the Indiana Dunes—always just a few steps behind, always reaching, always becoming stronger without even realizing it. That love of running carried me into road races and eventually onto my own cross country team, where I discovered not just endurance, but confidence, resilience, and joy."
~ Coach Kylene
Now, as a trained educator, Coach Kylene blends that lived experience with her background in teaching to guide children in a way that is developmentally thoughtful, encouraging, and deeply connected to nature. The Airie WIld Runners Club is more than a running group—it’s an invitation for your child to build strength, confidence, and a lifelong love of movement in the places where childhood feels most alive.
Each one-hour practice, your child will have the opportunity to:
-
Learn how to run safely and confidently on natural trails
-
Build endurance through play, games, and exploration
-
Practice balance, agility, and body awareness
-
Discover the rhythm of running in nature
-
Encourage teamwork, confidence, and joy in movement
At the end of each semester, families will be invited to register for a local nature or trail race. This gives children the chance to celebrate their growth in a real-world setting.

Airie Book Worms
A Read-Aloud Club
At what age should I stop reading aloud to my child?
Almost as big a mistake as not reading aloud to children is stopping too early! A literacy learner has different levels of readiness for each element of literacy. Did you know that each person has a decoding level (reading) and a listening level (read aloud)? This club is focused on pairing these levels together to enhance everyone's literacy and open up windows to other worlds of exploration.
Each one-hour meeting will have opportunities to experience literacy-strengthening activities, which may include:
-
Book Buddies - partner reading based on reading and listening levels
-
Literacy Workshop
-
Developmentally Appropriate Literacy Games
-
Targeted practice to improve an area of development
-
-
Literacy Newsletter - playful literacy ideas to explore for the next month.
Through these experiences, children build confidence, independence, and enjoyment for reading, while forming meaningful friendships with other book lovers.
