Expeditions

As an innovative educational program, we challenge our students with new settings, as research has found that this affects children differently. Many children who are confident in an indoor setting take time to gain confidence in an outdoor setting, and those who struggle indoors often enjoy the varied learning styles and different settings that outdoor environments offer.

Exposure to the natural world stimulates curiosity and fosters a sense of wonder. Airie Outdoor Academy primary students enjoy weekly field trips to local parks, woods, creeks, caves, zoos, and farms, providing opportunities for children to observe and interact with various plants, animals, and ecosystems, thereby promoting a deeper understanding of the environment. When E.C.O. and O.W.L. students are invited to join, they are developmentally ready for these exploratory trips.
