The Outdoor Academy
Inquiry-based Education for Homeschooling Families
The Experience
Creative Learning the Natural Way
Imagine a school where your child’s classroom is the great outdoors, their lessons are drawn from nature, and every day is an adventure that builds confidence and celebrates their learning style. Welcome to Airie Outdoor Academy!
The Academy teachers partner with the children, nature, and families to provide a rich context for interdisciplinary student projects and discoveries. This is what we refer to as a family-based education.
Education joyfully unfolds to build the foundations for the six dynamic disciplines, supported with research-based instructional strategies and materials. Young learners explore Reggio-inspired Outdoor Learning Laboratories, enriched with provocations shaped by their inquiries. These play-based learning invitations have embedded curricular content that highlights our educational philosophies.

The Six Dynamic Disciplines

Homeschool Hybrid Classes
Educating children is meant to be a shared journey among parents, teachers, and the children themselves.
Our hybrid classes combine home education with the support of experienced and licensed teachers. Students spend meaningful days exploring and learning alongside peers at Airie’s in-person classes, while parents have the flexibility to continue their individualized learning journeys at home. Together, we create a family-centered education where parents, teachers, and children work as partners, building confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning within a supportive village that feels like home.
Cooperative Clubs
Learning Through Challenges, Curiosity, and Community
Our clubs are designed to bring children and families together through shared experiences, meaningful relationships,
and the joy of healthy challenges.

"Airie Outdoor Academy has helped our extremely active son thrive by embracing his natural curiosity, energy, and mechanical mind. He has gone from frustration with letters to voluntarily writing, reading, and exploring math, something we entirely attribute to Airie’s responsive and flexible approach."
— Kinnamont Family

"I am grateful that Airie has provided my son with such a unique learning experience. He is developing life skills such as teamwork, resilience, and independence, and the freedom to learn through play has boosted his confidence and curiosity in ways that traditional classrooms just can’t match."
— Gully Family

Primary Class
A Private, Small-Group Homeschool Tutorial
Airie’s Primary Class is a small, intentionally designed learning cohort of 5 to 6 mixed-aged students, led by a licensed teacher with advanced training in early childhood, literacy, special education, and play-based instruction.
Rooted in both research and experience, this homeschool hybrid class blends explicit, structured academic instruction across the six dynamic disciplines, enhanced by inquiry-based projects, collaborative learning, emotional development, and meaningful time in nature.
Children form strong relationships by consistently spending time together. These trusting relationships enable instruction to be responsive and meaningful, providing support that goes beyond memorization. One strong relationship we focus on building in this class is the parent-teacher partnership.
This class provides a dynamic rhythm of intentionally targeted instruction, collaborative projects, outdoor exploration, play-based learning methods, and emotional intelligence.
The Primary Class is a balanced, year-long collaboration with rolling enrollment.
